2023.07.01【ANNOUNCEMENT】 The Selection of Distinguished Alumni and Excellent Young Alumni of I-Shou University in 2023
I. Purpose: The selection of distinguished alumni aims to select and praise alumni who have had remarkable achievements or made concrete contributions to the University, the society, or the country, to help the University’s reputation grow, and to set a good example to encourage other graduates and enrolled students.
II. There are two alumni-related awards: The Distinguished Alumni Awards and the Excellent Young Alumni Awards. The nominees for the Excellent Young Alumni Awards shall be at or under the age of forty-five.
III. Qualifications: Nominees for distinguished alumni should be the ones who have made remarkable academic contributions, performed brilliantly on service or had other achievements, and set a good example to other graduates and enrolled students of the University. The categories of distinguished alumni are as follows:
1. Academic Excellence: being engaged in academic research, innovation, or invention, having performed brilliantly in international competitions, or having received an award from the country;
2. Service Excellence: having been publicly praised by government agencies, being widely recognized for long-term devotion to public welfare, or having remarkable achievements while holding an important position in a government agency or the private sector; and
3. Others: having special contributions other than those as referred to in the preceding two subparagraphs, such as contributions to the University’s reputation, institutional development, teaching and services, research and development, or innovative measures as well as donations to the University.
IV. Application: A nomination application shall be submitted with a nominee’s prior consent. Convincing evidence shall be clearly stated on a nomination application, and supporting documents submitted.
1. Each college may choose one or two nominees from its departments (institutes/programs) to compete in the university-level selection.
2. The following units and persons are qualified to file a nomination application:
a. the Career Development Center;
b. the ISU Alumni Association or overseas ISU alumni associations; or
c. at least twenty ISU alumni signing in support of the nomination.
V. The Number of Winners: In principle, the number of winners of the Distinguished Alumni Awards and the Excellent Young Alumni Awards is three, respectively; however, the Award Committee of Distinguished Alumni may adjust the number of winners based on the situation from year to year.
VI. Application Period and Required Documents: Please submit a nomination application form, a letter of consent, and supporting documents to the Alumni Service Section of the Career Development Center for further processing by Wednesday, August 31, 2023.
VII. Commendation: The winners of the Distinguished Alumni Awards and the Excellent Young Alumni Awards will be publicly praised and awarded a medal and a certificate of merit on the University’s anniversary, and their achievements will be published in the University’s e-papers or publications.
